I created my diorama by inserting felt into a shoe box and then placing my flannel graph characters into the box. Roofs were often flat. And when they had broken through they lowered the mat on which the paralytic was lying. This is a get your hands dirty digging through the roof kind of faith.

And when they had dug an opening they let down the pallet on which the paralytic was lying. The four men probably used an outside stairway to carry their friend up to the roof. Some people came bringing to him a paralyzed man carried by four men. Since they were not able to bring him to jesus because of the crowd they removed the roof above where he was.

While he was preaching god s word to them four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. They couldn t bring him to jesus because of the crowd so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. This time however jesus sees the faith of the men lowering their paralyzed friend.
